Marco Pasqua was born on July 4, 1985, a date that began his fight for a “normal” life. Marco only weighed 2 lbs. 10 oz. was 3 months premature and he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
Despite facing adversity since day one and enduring more than 13 surgeries as a child, Marco’s parents raised him to believe that no goal was too out of reach, and no challenge was too hard to conquer. They enrolled him in horseback riding when he was only 3 1/2 years old and Marco soon discovered he excelled at sports. He decided to compete in the BC Summer and Winter Games for Athletes with Disabilities and since 1994 he has won 22 Gold, 10 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals in Track and Field, Swimming, Horseback Riding and Basketball.
When he was only 10 years old, Marco was invited to be the ambassador/host of the Timmy’s Christmas Telethon with Red Robinson, which is when Marco first spoke in front of a large audience. He was a natural!
In March 2006, Marco graduated from the Art Institute of Vancouver with an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts and Game Design. He graduated on the “Dean’s List” with honours. He then spent 4 years in a leadership position in the Video Game Industry but soon realized his true passion was in inspiring audiences. He is driven by seeing firsthand the power that a positive outlook can have on a person. By sharing his story, he wants to continue to change perceptions of what is possible and share with everyone how to get there!
