David Merry has been Canada’s premiere comic magician and has travelled the globe making people laugh for the last thirty years. He has a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Comedy Magic Seminar and has been nominated at the Canadian Comedy Awards for “Best One Man Show” and “Best Variety Act.”
David is a member of the Writers Guild of Canada and has written for Television for over fifteen years. He has written for the Canadian Comedy Awards, was a writer and host of Global TV’s sports trivia show “GAME ON” and “GET A GRIP ON GOLF” and in 2015 was a cast member and writer on Super Channel’s hilarious “TOO MUCH INFORMATION.”
For their clients he has produced, directed and written twenty four training videos, three commercials and twenty two comedy spoofs in just their first two years of operation. He is working on several new television projects having written the pilot script and series bible for “BELLEVUE COUNTRY CLUB,” a sitcom that takes place on a quaint nine-hole golf course in the fictitious town of Bellevue Falls. A sci-fi hour long drama “ELECTION DAY” which will be executive produced by Robert Watts from Star Wars fame and another quirky sitcom that takes place on a First Nation’s reserve, “BINGO”.
He recently wrote, directed and produced a gritty suspense thriller short called “ROAD RAGE” and in October 2016 he completed his third feature length screenplay the irreverent comedy “SWITCHED AT DEATH.” The first feature was a suspense thriller, “GHOST WRITERS,” and the second was a horror movie “DEAD AND BREAKFAST” all are currently available for option.
He lives in Toronto with his wife Cathy and three children, spending half of his time performing and the other half writing, directing and producing.
